Portraits: Cherry Blossoms & Magnolia, High Park, Toronto

The cherry & magnolia trees were blossoming all over the place on Mother's Day weekend, but I happened to start my Friday in High Park, Toronto, Ontario. Despite the fact that it's a very busy and extremely popular park, I'd say it's still one of my favourite. High Park has such a great variety of backgrounds & textures that would spark imagination of any kind of photographer: portraitist, landscape, macro, you name it. However, if you're a photographer, please keep in mind that any type of formal (read ''commissioned') photography is prohibited in High Park (permits are not available).

It was a gorgeous day filled with lots of sunlight and beautiful faces. Our amazing model, Michaela, was such a delight to work with! A Toronto-based certified make up artist, Anett, did an absolutely wonderful job by highlighting Michaela's natural beauty. Hope you enjoy the images as much as we loved making them.

Love,

-Eva.

Girl Power: International Women's Day!

International Women's Day is just around the corner and, although, I know that most Canadians either do not know or just could not care less about this holiday. In this case, being Russian has its perks. I love love March 8th! You can take away a V-Day from me but you cannot take away the most spring'y and girly holiday of all. Anyway, I was in the middle of planning a very bright and cheerful photoshoot filled with flowers and glitter, but then I realized that the holiday is the perfect occasion to show some appreciation for myself (oh humble me:) ) and do what I feel like doing. I did not really have a concept for the shoot, but as usual I had my loyal & constant companion - mild insanity and a new speedlight I finally received from Vistek Canada - Canon 600EX-RT. The speedlight was used in Manual mode and was promptly put in Westcott RapidBox 26''. It's the fanciest flash unit I have ever used and I am pretty impressed with the results and overall usability. So without further ado, here are some images of yours truly trying to show some different, slightly dark and, of course, moderately crazy sides of a woman.

Happy International Women's Day Loves! Be loved and be happy!

Love,

-Eva.
